Sally Morganthaler at Tabor

If you aren’t heading to the Grassroots Festival and still want to get some input from one of the speakers, then head over to Tabor College next Thursday to hear Sally Morganthaler who is described as:

on leadership

So, the country is being run under new leadership as the campaign promised.

Reading update

Thought it might be good to post on what has been on my reading list of late:-

Pragmatism

I have often been accused of being overly theoretical and ‘in my head’ – which I think has been with good reason. Over the past few months, a few people around me have been challenging me to be more practical and to implement my thoughts or at least ground them.

Questions such as “give me an example?” and “what does that look like?” are really helpful to move me to that.

But that got me thinking.

Make (Poverty) History

There is a lot of talk about making a difference and changing the world these days.

Here is a local opportunity to get engaged:

Especially over the next couple of weeks with the G20 coming to town.

Hope to see you there.

Attention and hornography

I have been reading about attention a bit recently and is an interesting paragraph in Wikipedia’s entry

A more substantial problem is presented by the human propensity to focus on emergency situations to the exclusion of background phenomena which may be more significant. This can be seen in what is considered news where a spectacular auto accident easily outweighs a report on particulate pollution by diesel engines although only a few may have died in the accident while thousands may suffer and die due to diesel pollution.
