No, no, please keep doing nothing

We really can afford to continue to do nothing about the climate issues that effect our planet.

It really does not matter that there is no ice at the North Pole

I think the big upside is it creates all these great items to put in our parent child stories:

“when I was a young lad they had *ice* on the North Pole, and they had big fish called whales in the ocean”

And Naomi Beth Edmeades joins us

Naomi Beth Edmeades joined the family on Sunday morning at 7:25am. She weighed in at 8lb 14.

Mother and daughter are doing good and will be home at some stage tomorrow.

on leadership

So, the country is being run under new leadership as the campaign promised.

And what can we expect from this?

Well, I have come across two interesting pieces online that could help us see what this may look like.

Big shift in church thinking

This is important for anyone involved in church leadership.

There has been a massive rethink at Willow Creek of late. Not only that, according to this article , and the presentations (see below), the leadership admit that they have made a mistake in the way they have been doing things.

In response to their existing strategy about getting people more involved in church life, Greg Hawkins states:

You have a couple of days...

To enroll or change your enrollment to vote.

Need help - April fool's 2008

Just wanting suggestions as to how best to celebrate the arrival of our second child , due on April 1 next year…?

Pragmatism again.

I was watching Micah this morning – he had three coasters in his hands and then spent 5 minutes trying to get the fourth from the coffee table. He was quite determined and I was thinking “come on… you have three already”.

That got me thinking.

The pragmatist says the 99% is good enough.

God says No it is not.

He says “I will leave the 99 and go out and search and find the 1. I will pick them up and bring them home. I will do what it takes for that one. I want 100%.”

That is not pragmatic.

It is passionate…

The process of Moving On

As some of you may be aware Kate, Micah and I have been involved in a little “community living experiment” for the past 7 or so months. We have been sharing a house with another couple and learning what it means to truly share. It has been a great learning experience, with some tough and difficult times, but good to do.

The point is that we are planning to move on (out) as the other couple is having a baby in May and we all agreed that it would be in all our best interests for those guys to have a safe, homely environment to go through that.

So, we are on the lookout for a place.

Sustainable Living Festival

If you’ve nothing planned for the weekend, then it would be a great idea to check out the Sustainable Living Festival.

Lots of interesting exhibitors, ideas and the like. Very interesting concept is by Anvil who help people build straw-bale-houses !

Further, my IT power requirements could be offset via some help by these guys

Will Christians stand again?

Human trafficking, including women forced to become prostitutes or minors forced to do child labor, is worse now than the trade in African slaves of past centuries, a top Vatican official said on Tuesday.

This is a staggering blight on the notion of “progress” as a society.

As Wilberforce stood against the prevailing practice and thought of his time (including that of many Christians), are the Christians of today going to likewise stand and say this is not right, not good and we, our churches and our governments must act?

Are our churches at least aware of these issues?
