Pragmatism again.

I was watching Micah this morning – he had three coasters in his hands and then spent 5 minutes trying to get the fourth from the coffee table. He was quite determined and I was thinking “come on… you have three already”.

That got me thinking.

The pragmatist says the 99% is good enough.

God says No it is not.

He says “I will leave the 99 and go out and search and find the 1. I will pick them up and bring them home. I will do what it takes for that one. I want 100%.”

That is not pragmatic.

It is passionate…

Pragmatism

Actually, I reject your premise.
What if the pragmatist is saying “99% is a pretty good effort, en route to the 100% I’m aiming at?

And are we still talking about the failings of pragmatism, or God’s unique, awesome and perfect Love, Passion, Ability and Purity?

Hmm rejection

I think I reject my own thinking on this one too.

(1) 100% can lead to perfectionism which is not good.
(2) It is not simply a numbers game.

Yet, there is still something there in the parable and in pragmatism’s “good enough” mindset not being good enough, just not sure what it is.

The link between pragmatism and the parable is that I believe that we as people, churches, etc are to love in the same manner.

Yes, it is an ideal and extreme, but we need to keep pushing ourselves and each other towards this.

Pragmatism again

I agree completely.
Love: as much as you can, as soon as you can, as often as you can. Start…..NOW!
And keep aiming for the best.
